Category: book Nook

I just came across this really cool website that has loads of audio books and programs to listen to. The cool thing I've found about audible.com is you don't have to join a club in order to binifit from it. I downloaded a book and got a discount just for trying out their website. I then decided to sign up for their premium audible listener club, which allows me two books a month, and for the first month I got an additional book for free. So, 3 free books. Not bad, eh?
Oh and, it doesn't matter how big, or how expensive a book you choose, you still can get it for free, providing you have a audible credit to cover it, and your a premium member.
There are 2 other clubs you can join as well. There is a standard club you can join for 14.95 a month, which allows for one audible credit, and 1 subscription to whatever audio newspaper or magazine you want to sign up for.
Thee is another premium club you can join, but you have to sign up for 12 months. But, you get a free mp3 player for signing up. I chose not to sign up with that particular one, because I don't want to have to commit to a contract.

I pay 21.95 for the club I joined, and for the first month I got 50% off my first month.
So far I love it. I've downloaded 3 books, and they are really good quality. There are a few different formats you can choose from, going from good, to excelllent quality.
I should probably be advertising this in some other topic, but I felt it would be appropriate to post it in here, as this is the book nook, and I think some of you might really like this website.
There is a huge selection of books and programs to choose from. If you decide to join, membership is free, to sign up and download. If you decide to join a club, depending on the one you choose, you can discontinue it at anytime. So far, only the one is binding, and there are 2 that are not.
Ok I've said enough about it for now lol. Let me know if any of you have heard of it, or have noined, and let me know your likes and/or dislikes about it, and whether you think it's worth it, or not.

yeah, i was a member. I did the year thingy and got the free muvo. It was alright! the subscriptions that come with it suck! There isn't anything good for that category. So every month, I didn't use it. What a waist. They need to add more to that. smile- angel

I've been an Audible subscriber for almost 2 years now. Love it, wis the format was a bit more portable and the player a little more advanced, that you could set book marks etc but over-all, great quality no messing around with mailing and calling and waiting for the tapes or CDs in the mail, instant access, it's really net.
cheers

I prefer my stuff inbraille, so Nls does for me. It's free, so it's convenient more or less.

You dont' actually need the player. The olympus recorders, and a few others playy audible books very well. Audible is great for me, for much the same reasons wb mentioned. lol And baby didnt' know you'd made this topic or I'd have written sooner. But yeah, the othe rthing audible has goign for it is that you can read, in bed, in the cold, adn dont' have to shove the braille book under teh covers to stop your fingers from freezing, lmao!

so how much is it to join a club, and if you do join a club, do you also have to pay for the books? I'm a little confused :)
